Description
The term "alpine start" is used to put a positive spin on the whole process of getting up when it's completely dark and cold, force down some food and coffee, and then start climbing by headlamp. Class II fun.
But it does have some rewards, including sights like this. The sun wasn't yet up on the southwest flank of Mt. Hood, but it sure was shining on the undersurface of some high clouds above the summit. I like the diagonal line of the snow and rock while the climbers and clouds seem to take your eye to where the sun should be coming up.
