Description
This dawn photograph was made at Spencer Spit State Park in the San Juan Islands of Washington state. The park includes a salt water estuary that fills with seawater at high tide and in calm conditions seems to be a reflecting pond. It's home to a wide variety of birdlife and salt-tolerant plants.
I like the calmness of this scene with its balance amongst the weathered stump, yellow flowers, reflected clouds, and grass. First Nations people harvested clams, crab, and mussels from this site, and it was likely host to a summer fishing village.
