This photo was made on New Year's Day 2013. Those who were at Alpental for the night before for our New Year's Eve torchlight parade may recall a loud salute exactly at midnight as the patrollers held their flares aloft. The angled dark patch of bare rock just above this patroller entering Shot Six is the result of that control work. Right down to bone, as they say.
