About Geoffrey Ferguson
Geoffrey Ferguson is a photographer who grew up and lives in the Puget Sound region of Washington State. This large and complex body of interconnected marine channels and basins is a part of the larger surrounding land and sea region known as the Salish Sea. It extends from Desolation Sound at the northern end of Strait of Georgia in Canada, includes the Strait of Juan de Fuca separating Vancouver Island from the Olympic Peninsula, and reaches all the way to the southern end of Puget Sound near the city of Olympia Washington.
Like most people who have grown up in this region, he is molded and influenced by the rich and complex natural environment. He has naturally developed an interest in wilderness adventure and enjoys skiing, climbing, sea kayaking, hiking, boating, and is part of the local Search and Rescue community. These interests have allowed ample opportunity for photography in the land and waters of the Salish Sea region. Travel and photography in other parts of the world has included the US Southwest, Austria, Mexico, Australia, and Norway. His work reflects a deep respect for the land, water, air, and creatures of this environment.
And along the way, there's some adventure that occasionally makes its way into the photos as well.
